How to Help

What to Do

  1. Start decorating! Organizations, like Meals on Wheels, are always looking for more decorated bags. If you want to help make a difference in people's lives, on your own time, decorating bags is a great way to help. Contact Bags of Joy at bagsofjoy17@gmail.com, and we will help you get started! We'll send you contact information for the Meals on Wheels near you and a detailed instruction sheet with examples of previously decorated bags for inspiration!

  2. Live in the Denver area and want Bags of Joy to come and run a bag-making event? Contact us to schedule a time. bagsofjoy17@gmail.com

  3. Print out the Bags of Joy label and attach it to your packages or simply label your packages with "Bags of Joy", fill out the bag count form, and we'll add it to our official Bags of Joy bag count!

  4. Volunteer directly with the various Meals on Wheels organizations! To volunteer, visit the Meals on Wheels organization, www.mealsonwheelsamerica.org and sign up.

Directions

  1. Use your materials to decorate the bags. Be creative! Have Fun!

2. Save the plastic bag the bags come in so that the decorated bags can be returned to them for easy storage!

3. Write inspirational and encouraging messages like:

      • Have a Nice Day!

      • Smile!

      • Love your Life, Enjoy Every Moment .

      • Focus on the Positive

4. Draw cheerful images like:

      • Winter: Snowflakes, Snowmen, or winter scenes

      • New Years Eve

      • Valentines Day

      • Spring: flowers, rain, or rainbows

        • St. Patrick's Day

      • Summer: flowers, trees, beach, sun, or fish

        • 4th of July

      • Fall: leaves, pumpkins, or gourds

        • Halloween
